    Genl Fitz Lee reports that the force which attacked Lomax yesterday on consisted of two divisions of enemy’s Cavy under Genl. Torbert, Lomax was posted on across the Madison Turnpike 2 1/2 miles from Gordonsville. The enemy was handsomely repulsed & retired about 3 p.m. just as reinforcements were getting in position, leaving some of their his dead on the ground field. They He travelled too rapidly last night to engage, his rear having passed Jacks shop 12 miles from Gordonsville one hour after dark. Thirty two prisoners captured by him at Liberty Mills on the 22nd being unable to keep up on their retreat were liberated – Lomax’s loss slight
