Lexington VA; 23 Feby 1869 My dear Sir I recd this mng your letter of the 17th Inst: - Since writing to you on the 9th my son WHF Lee has sent me your receipt for Cmmrs etc & explained about the bonds for deferred payments. I think you had better retain the latter as you suggest until you see whether the second sale will be confirmed & then dispose of them as may be necessary. I am glad that the purchasers have been able to sell at an advance. It will help relieve their estates. If that shall be made good, the conditions of the first can be easily complied with. In reference to the cattle on the Island you can act as you propose. I am very anxious to close my account as Executor & must ask you to arrange the accounts with that view as far as possible - Thanking you for your continued kindness & attention I am very truly yours R E Lee Hamilton S.
