Near Winchester June 17th /63 Dear Sister: Another battle has been fought and won and I have been, by the goodness of God, brought through unharmed. I have not time to tell you of all our hardships &c. &c...since leaving Fredericksburg; marching as we did over 125 miles in seven days without rest until we arrived in the valley below Winchester. Here we hemmed in Milroy's army in a fort near Winchester. Our division made a flank movement this morning and got in the view of the enemy as they were leaving Winchester to cross the Potomac. We fought him some three or four hours without the loss of a single man killed and only two or three wounded. We have captured the greater part of his army and spoils innumerable. I will write every time I have an opportunity, Good bye Ted
