Davis thanks Pendleton for his "sketch" and goes on to say he will not be documenting engagements in any detail but hopes that others better qualified will do so. Instead, Davis writes, "I wish in general terms to correct some prevailing errors, and to do justice to some from whom it has been withheld, also to show under what great disadvantages we labored . . . " He asks Pendleton for additional information and sketches about several battles. There is one file available: a PDF which was created from scans of the original document.
