Obesity, Physical Activity, and Health Implications in the Low-Income Community

Abstract

Tackling obesity related poverty, specifically found in rural communities, is a larger problem than simply increasing physical activity. However, starting at physical activity allows for an opportunity to tackle problems that not only deal with the superficial aspect of obesity. Being obese is not an appealing physical attribute, but the health consequences of obesity extend into many aspects of one's future life. Physical activity lowers the incidence of complications due to obesity. It is important to tackle this health problem in lower income communities, in particular, in order to provide a fair opportunity for a prosperous life. [From Conclusion]
