He writes to criticize "the interference which took place on your campus when WSLS-TV Cameraman John Gilbert attempted to take news pictures of an historical event" (the sudden death of Senator Alben Barkley during his keynote address to the Mock Convention of 1956). He also criticizes the response of the Washington and Lee University administration to the students' actions.
