Col. Ed Dooley created these computer reconstructions of Lexington's (Va.) Main Street in 1867 based on existing buildings or from historic photographs. Using Google SketchUp software, he was able to model these buildings in 2-D and 3-D to near exact dimensions and design, basing his decisions on images where he had clear visual evidence to flesh out a particular building. These images were on display along with historic photographs, text describing the buildings' features and history, and contemporary images of the buildings or locations along Main Street in the Rockbridge Historical Society during 2013. Here are thirty two 2-D images and exhibit panels created by Dooley for the RHS exhibit. Col. Dooley took all the present day photographs himself. Historic photos of the Dold/Dever Building, the Barclay Building, and the Burton-White building, as well as the Miley print of town showing the roof of the Court House and the photograph of Nannie Jordan are part of Washington and Lee University's Special Collections and are shown with permission. The historic photo of the Lexington Hotel is part of Virginia Military Institute's Archives and is shown with permission.en_US
