These photographs were taken by Wan Wei during the summer of 2014. The classes studied Japanese language and culture at at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. These photographs were part of the Study Abroad Photo Exhibit on October 14, 2014. Wan Wei is a member of the class of 2017 of Washington and Lee University. Student statement about their experience: "Desiring for more cultural immersion, I went to Nagoya, Japan this past summer for Japanese language and culture studies. As an international student from China, the relationship between China and Japan and the cultural similarities and differences between the two are interesting to me. Since I have already had the experience of studying abroad (here in America) and also the similarity between China and Japan, I got used to Japanese life and college studies very quickly. An open-mindedness is one of the significant characters that students who want to study abroad need. We need to keep in mind that not all the other countries in the world are the same as the one which you are living in. We don't have to completely accept the uniqueness of that country, but we all need to understand and respect it."
