The flamenco and Catholic styles fused with the Muslim influences from the Islamic conquests of Spain made this traditional Spanish city a particularly interesting place to study. I took a Spanish history class taught in Spanish along with a grammar and conversational class. The southern proximity of Seville made excursions to neighboring countries possible and convenient. Experiencing the cultural differences in Portugal and (especially) Morocco was an eye-opening experience. Traveling to a different country with a different culture has enabled me to better grasp my own cultural identity. This summer taught me so much about myself and I hope to travel again (anywhere!) as soon as possible."
