Thesis; [FULL-TEXT RESTRICTED TO WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY LOGIN] Chauncey L. Baker is a member of the Class of 2015 of Washington and Lee University. I have spent the last six months thinking about what it means to tell a story. In my creative writing thesis, I wanted to explore poetry and its strengths and weaknesses as a mode of communication. I've been writing poetry since the 6th grade with some dry patches here and there. The opportunity to write forty poems in under a year seemed like just the project to culminate my creative and critical studies of English over the past four years.
