This handwritten note is a draft of an invitation to the wedding of Bessie Moore Nelson, A. L. Nelson's daughter, which took place on July 5, 1880 at the Chapel at Washington and Lee University. At the same time, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Nelson extended an invitation to a celebration of their silver anniversary at their home immediately following the wedding. It's likely that a different copy was submitted to the local newspaper since this one was retained and a math problem was worked on the back of the paper.en_US
This item, along with many others, was inserted into the ledger book journal used by the Nelson family. Inserted items included math problems and solutions, genealogy notes and diagrams, and correspondence.en_US
