dc.descriptionThis document states that Rosa Lewis, one of the slaves of the late Hugh Adams, Decd, emancipated by his will, did withdraw from her account in June 1858 the amount of seven hundred dollars for the purchase of her husband, Reuben Lewis. The document was signed by Rosa with her mark and was probably drafted by the Executor on behalf of the estate of Hugh Adams. The document was witnessed by W. McLain, Fin. Sec. A. C. S. (American Colonization Society).en_US
